Research Centers

Public and private research centers play a critical role in transforming basic research into applied R&D, technology, and products.

Applied R&D and Technology Maturation

Making the applied-R&D, technology-maturation, test, validation, and characterization capabilities of research centers visible within the ecosystem is a core objective. Raising the technology readiness level by using shared infrastructures and joint test and characterization facilities is supported.

Technology Transfer and Outputs

The transfer of the knowledge, technologies, and outputs obtained from research activities to development and commercialization processes is encouraged. Research centers contribute to university-industry-research center consortia through applied R&D, testing, and technology maturation.

Cooperation Model

Under public coordination, university-industry-research center consortium models aimed at developing concrete prototypes, technologies, and product outputs are adopted. The access model for the shared use of test and characterization infrastructures is addressed on the Infrastructure page.
