According to ScienceDaily, researchers at Kyoto and Hiroshima universities developed a photonic quantum circuit that efficiently identifies multi-photon W states and demonstrated it experimentally with three photons.
W states are a form of entanglement relevant to quantum communication, teleportation and network verification. Fast and efficient detection could simplify state verification and error checking in quantum networks.
