According to The Quantum Insider, quantum algorithms company Phasecraft has begun supporting DARPA's Quantum Benchmarking Initiative through a contract run via the University of Maryland ARLIS. The company will provide resource-estimation algorithms for materials modelling and optimization problems.
QBI's stated goal is to assess the feasibility of utility-scale quantum computing by 2033. This remains a program target rather than a demonstrated outcome, but it shows increasing defense-linked activity in quantum software.
